New York, New York, you can hear Frank Sinatra singing it to you! One of the busiest most amazing cities in the world! Everyone loves New York! In Staten Island we will be working with Pastor Tim McIntyre who is the senior Pastor of Oasis Christian Center.

The Holy Hands Expedition starts with three intense days of training your students in many different areas for outreaches including, human videos, evangelism training, apologetics, testimonies, children’s ministry, team work, one on one street evangelism, and Garbonics (aka. Stomp). These days will be long hard training days and at night we will be having services where we as Holy Hands staff will be sharing their heart for the ministry of evangelism and getting the students spiritually geared up for the outreaches!

The next few days will be filled with putting into practice what was learned in the training sessions. In the mornings of those days teams be handing out flyers and cleaning up the community. In the afternoon the students will get prepped and go out to put to use all that they have learned for outreaches in the area! These are great moments to watch your students share their testimony and really be stretched with their one on one evangelism! Staten Island is a very cultured city with people from places all over the world. You now don’t have to go outside the U.S. to find people who speak different languages and have different cultures. The people there are always busy and on the go, never have time for anything, especially church. So we take Jesus to them, in a very different and unique way and people are drawn to it, because we proclaim Jesus love for them!

The best part about this trip though will be taking all that the students have learned home, to where they have their own mission field. Our hope is that their life is changed on this trip, and then they use that experience to change other people’s lives in their own communities!

What is Unique

We get to go to this one skate park every year we go and it's just a great place to minister to the teenagers and young adults that are there skating and biking! We hand out PowerAde and fuse drinks to them and they are so very thankful to us which opens up windows to share Jesus' love to them!

Stories from 2009

BeckaLast summer in Staten Island, I met a guy named Tom at one of the outreaches, and he was a park worker, so every time I went to that park he was usually working. I got to talk with him for a few hours every time we went. He asked a lot of questions and was searching for something, but he didn’t know what. I talked to him about Jesus for a long time, gave him a Bible and when I came back the next time he was reading it and had even more questions, but still couldn’t believe. A year had passed and I thought I would never have seen Tom again, but knew in my heart that I had planted seeds in his life for him to draw closer to the answers to his questions. Then just this past summer when we went back to Staten Island Tom was there at the same park. I was so excited to see him, and he even remembered my name. I was asking him how he was doing and then I just felt he was so different so I asked him if he had gotten saved, and he said yes! He began to tell me how he had gotten involved in a local church and was on their worship team and he helping in after school programs at his local high school. I was so touched and excited I almost started to cry in front of him. All this just to say when you start planting seeds in people’s lives, for some you just never know what will happen to that seed even if it is small, our God is a God of miracles and that is just what happens!
